Just Some Little Things

I look back on  my life and the last year of my life and I am amazed. This time last year was a rough spot for me. Daniel and I were blah, school was blah, and all I wanted to do was go home. April came and brought a new routine. As I prepared for leaving BYU for the summer, packing, and studying for finals Daniel came back into my life and everything seemed normal. A few short months later he left on a mission. As I think about where I was this time last year, I feel blessed and amazed. So much has happened, so much has changed. Daniel has almost been out on his mission for 10 whole months! I started my second year at BYU, which ended up being my last. I applied to a new school, got accepted, and start in May. I changed from pre-med to pre-nursing. My roommate Lauren actually was in my ward last year and I had no idea who she was, this year she has become one of my best friends. I met new people, to name a few, my best friends Cory and Ashley. I got into a wreck, I forgot to take a test, I laughed until I cried. I learned to look forward to letters and take everything I could away from them. I learned to go on with my life without Daniel, which I thought would be impossible after him leaving. I learned to hold in my tears until after the situation was over and then let it all out. I learned no matter how BAD things are or how BIG of a deal you think it is, it will pass, and believe it or not it will work out. It might not work out for the best, but then again life is what we make it. Looking back I see that I have learned to appreciate the little things. And here are just a few that I feel have made my life tremendously better this last year.
  • Late night fast-food runs
  • The smell of coming home to a clean house
  • Feeling like the world is crumbling down on me, and finding refuge at Brent and Lori's
  • Re-reading a good book
  • Reading a book that I can hardly get through I am crying so much
  • Saying goodbye to someone and being told that they love you over and over
  • The anticipation of hello's
  • The moments before a kiss, they're silent, they're precious, and there is nothing like them
  • Really stupid pick up lines
  • Laughing until I'm crying and my stomach hurts
  • Eating ice cream out of the carton
  • Inside jokes
  • When someone comes to your rescue and makes everything okay
  • Snuggling
  • Running into your best friends on campus
  • Random trips
  • Driving with the music turned up, singing at the top of your lungs
  • Dance parties
  • Taking stupid pictures
  • Apologies
  • Reuniting
  • Awkward moments
  • Dying your hair a completely different color and it actually turning out well
  • Getting mail
  • Long letters
  • Letters full of "I love you's" and things someone loves about you
  • Memories
  • Blushing
  • Finally getting your make up right
  • Curling your hair and it only taking 2 hours
  • First dates
  • Friday night date night
  • Ice cream
  • Finding the perfect dress
  • When your phone rings and you know exactly who it is
  • Texts that make you smile
  • Not getting caught
  • Finding someone who gets everything about you
  • Being in a person's profile picture
  • When you write something you find brilliant and one of a kind
  • A good blog post
  • Taking good picture
  • When you finally realize that you are actually going to be okay and you will survive this
  • Going home for the weekend
  • When your parents come and visit
  • Romantic moments/dates
  • Looking through wedding magazines even though you aren't engaged
  • When your best friend doesn't think what you are saying is dumb
  • Moving on
And so so so much more. It has been an eventful year! And this next year will be even more eventful. This time next year I will have spent 5 months of my life in Russia. I will know more Russian than I do now. I will have lived with a family that does not speak English. I will have taught children how to speak English. I will be applying to the nursing program. And the most exciting thing of all, Elder Daniel Ted Wood will be coming home is just 2 1//2 short months! I look forward to all that is coming my way. And man, oh man, am I grateful for all those little things! Hope this post finds you well!

What Will It Bee?

So this last weekend I surprised my family and came home for my sister Heather's gender party. I am sure most of you are wondering what a gender party is, so I will go ahead and explain. The theme was Bees as in "What will it bee?" as in are we having a boy or a girl? Heather went to the doctor last Wednesday to find out the sex of the baby. She had the doctor write the sex of the baby on an envelope and seal it so she couldn't see. She then gave the envelope to a friend who filled a box with pink or blue balloons depending on the sex of the baby. So we then had this great party. Everything was black, yellow, white, and gray. It was so cute! Katie my sister-in-law is a genius and so crafty! She helped Heather with everything and made everything so extra cute. I am so glad Katie has been there to help Heather. Heather was born 2 things. 1. A natural mother and 2. The most secretive crafty person you will meet. She will deny that she is crafty, but it's a lie. This party and Linsey's wedding is a testament of that. So Katie and Heather planned this adorable party and when I heard that this was all going down I just couldn't miss it. So I flew down and surprised them. Well I wasn't the only one doing the surprising. Brent and Lori came too, and Linsey. But Linsey didn't know we were coming either, so we got everyone.
It started with Linsey. Linsey got in about an hour after I did so we sent Brent and Lori to get her with my parents. My parents let Brent and Lori out of the car and they ran around behind her. When they got to her they said "Hey, can we get a ride?!" and she turned around and scowled until she realized who it was. Once she realized it was them she freaked out! She was so mad when she heard they weren't coming so she immediately started crying. When she got home I came out from the kitchen and she started crying again. No one was expecting me! Heather came home the next day and we got her 3 times over. She walked in and Brent and Lori were just casually sitting there, of course being pregnant she started crying and was so excited. When she calmed down Linsey walked out casually and Heather started again. Then I walked out and since she wasn't facing me I said "Well you look good girl!!" and she flipped! We all cried! I have missed all of them so much and it has been so much fun to be with all of them again. The weekend has been full of eating, laughing, staying up late, the Hunger Games, and a great party.
Saturday night was the gender party. After everyone had come in and eaten we had Heather, Shawn, and Gavin open the box. It was so exciting! I started to get so emotional. I am just so happy for Heather and so amazed at the beauty of life. After what seemed like years they finally opened it and....IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!! Heather and Shawn already have a boy, Gavin who is 3 so we are so excited! Let the shopping begin!! I cried my eyes out and even now just thinking about it I start to cry. It really is such an exciting time! Baby Girl Miller is due August 13th and we are all so excited to welcome her here!  I will be living 4 1/2 hours away from Heather when she is due, so I will jump in the car as soon as she goes into labor. Seeing as her last delivery only lasted 4 hours I doubt I will be able to be in the room again, but I should be there shortly after. I am so excited to announce I am going to be an Aunt for the 5th time over to a baby GIRL!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy some pictures!

It was the perfect weekend and I am so glad I got to be there! Counting down the days till I go back home again! 1 Month and counting.... Hope this blog finds you well!

Sometimes the Best Things in Life Aren't Planned

So this last weekend was an eventful one! Lauren and I were awoken by Cory and Ashley Friday morning with breakfast in bed. They brought over Lucky Charms and chocolate milk. It was pretty great just hanging out and being extremely lazy. We weren't even through our first few bites before Cory brought up the fact that he really wanted to get out of Provo for the weekend. I hadn't had the best week of my life, so I was all for leaving. Cory and Ashley really wanted to go to Cedar City to visit his Granny & Dorthy and also to go to Zion's National park. It took about 5 seconds for Lauren and I to decide that it was exactly what we needed this weekend, so we made all the plans.
I didn't get off work until 12 am, but once I was home we packed up Lauren's Mini Van and hit the road. We didn't get there until 4 am!!! We were all exhausted and fell asleep extremely fast. The alarms went off at 7:45 and we were out the door by 9 to get the the park. The park was amazing! It was so beautiful! They have all these gorgeous trails to follow that are actually quite fun. Lauren and I were a little worried when we heard the word "hike", but it actually turned out to be really great! There were points that we were laughing so hard that we had to stop walking or we were going to fall off a cliff or something. It was so much fun! We went to a couple of different trails and took tons of pictures. It was St. Patrick's Day so everyone was in green. We even had a little girl pinch all of us for not wearing green! She was so cute! The weather was perfect! It was warm enough to wear shorts, but cold enough to have a sweatshirt on. There was a lot of overcast so we were protected from the sun. We are planning on going back this summer and doing the trails that involve all the water. Can't wait for that!
After we finished up hiking we went to see the St. George Temple. Wow! It is a beautiful temple! I had no idea! I love it because it is so simple and more antique looking, but gosh is it gorgeous! The grounds were pretty too. There were a few couples that had just gotten married. It made us all really excited for Cory and Ashley's wedding next month! So many tears!!! It was fun to watch all the people who were part of the weddings. They were all so happy! I loved it!
After seeing St. George we were pretty exhausted, so we headed back home to Granny's. Once we were home we had dinner which was corn beef and cabbage, a St. Patrick's Day tradition in the Hill family. I had never had it before and it was pretty different! You guys know how picky I can be and Granny and Dorthy noticed too. They are so funny and blunt! They told me "You need to change that!" I was like yeah my family has been trying that one for years! Good luck! After dinner we laid down for a nap which ended up being like a 3 hour nap! I was still so tired afterwards! But we all woke up and went upstairs for games. I called Heather because it was her BIRTHDAY!!! WHOOT WHOOT! Shout out! It was really good to talk to her because man do I miss her! I joined all the games after I got off the phone. We played Mexican Trains for like 4 hours! It is such a fun game, so if anyone needs a birthday gift idea (August 4th) that is what you should get me! So great!
The next morning we woke up early for church and went to church with Granny and Dorthy. It was such a small cute ward. I loved it and felt right at home. After church we had lunch and just sat around and talked for awhile. It was really nice to be in someones home for the weekend and not in an apartment. It was kinda a small touch of home for me. We packed up our things and loaded the car and said good bye to Granny and Dorthy. We came to Cedar City in beautiful weather that looked like spring was coming. We left Cedar City with disgusting snow that only got worse in Provo. It was good to get back home though. I had a lot of things that I needed to catch up on. The whole trip only lasted about 40 hours, but man was it worth it. Nothing will ever be able to replace spending time with your best friends and last minute surprises. Love you guys and thanks for the great weekend! Now for all the pictures...

Some people have to learn this the hard way....

My Missionary...

This is what happiness looks like
This what I look like snorting because that's how funny Daniel is
Daniel Ted Wood has been out on his mission for 9 months 1 week and 4 days!!! Honestly I never thought that we would make it this far! I really was so worried that everything would change or that it would be too hard or that we would both lose interest, but here we are. Daniel loves being to tell all the other missionaries that yes in fact we are still going strong. They all told him that I would write him off in no time, but once again here we are! He has spent most of his mission in Terra Haute, but last week he was transferred to Beech Grove, Indiana
He was also made District Leader!!! He was really nervous about that part. Of course being Daniel he doesn't ever think that he is ready or the right person. He doesn't see what everyone else sees, this amazing, brilliant, strong, faithful, and loyal 20 year old  boy who is ready for anything the Lord throws his way. He is without a doubt one of the most amazing people I have ever met. I'm so lucky to have him in my life and to have become so close to him. He has blessed my life is so many different ways. He is a constant support system, he believes in me more than anyone should, he thinks I'm beautiful even with sweats on, he makes me laugh more than I could ever imagine, and he is my best friend. I am so proud of all he has done. And I can't believe that we are going to be coming up on a year here soon! It has flown by, but of course that is all in hindsight. Ask me if I think time is flying by now? Nope.
His weekly emails have gotten really short lately because he doesn't have much time to email anymore. This weeks email consisted of the fact that he ate a cockroach. Yeah, I am extremely disturbed by #1. Him and #2. That Indiana allows that kind of stuff! But he really is loving every moment. His current companion is Elder Aquino which he loves. He misses his last companion Elder Rogers like crazy! I think Elder Rogers and Elder Wilson have been his favorites by far, but he has loved each one. It has been so great getting to share his mission with him. I love hearing about all the amazing things he is doing. He is have such an amazing time. I can't imagine how hard it will be for him to leave. I keep thinking that this time next year I will be counting down the days till he gets back! Gosh it is going to be here before I know it! People always ask me how Daniel is doing, so I just thought I would make a little post for everyone to see! I love him :) Here are a few pictures...

 Diet Family
 Smithson Family
Vishal Family
If you are thinking that Daniel needs a hair cut, you would be right. But thankfully as a missionary he is required to have nice short hair! He misses Terra Haute, but he is loving his new area too. He says it only gets harder and harder to say goodbye to all of the families he has come to know. I can't wait to meet all these people! Well I hope this finds you well!
Until Next Time,

I'm Feeling Crafty

And when I say I am feeling crafty that means that I am feeling like getting people to make these things for me.....
As a kid I always wanted a dollhouse. I asked for one when I was an early teenager and I got it for Christmas. It was one of those Mansion in Minutes kind of things. Well let me tell you it WAS NOT a mansion in minutes and we quickly gave up on it. But now that I'm older and wiser and have much more talented friends I feel that it is officially time to make a dollhouse. Of course I wouldn't use it to play with dolls, because that would be ridiculous. It would just be for making, and decorating, and loving. I NEED it.

If it isn't obvious why I need this, then you should not be reading this blog. I love this! I think it is the most clever thing ever and once again I NEED this! It wouldn't even be that hard to make! I mean not that I'm making it or anything...but for the person that would be....
I am 100% sure I am getting this made. Jessica Ellsworth. I will pay you big money for this....
And for this....
AND this...
See these are just things I need at this point in life. Is that bad? Well if you look at it in the way that I know exactly what I want, then no. But if you look at it in the way that I'm being kinda greedy then yes, yes it is. I love all this stuff! Plus I have about a million recipes I want to try. I think the recipes is partly because I can't eat out (going on 1 week now....) and partly because I am so sick of dieting.... Either way I might just have to break down and try all of them! And just because this is my blog and I love stuff like this here are a few of my top comments....

Hope all is well with you! Lots of love sent your way!
Until Next Time,
Muah!
